Stamped on 2:07 PM by Aveline
Pre-event Briefing for X-Physique 2006
Reporting: 0700hrs 19th Feb Orchard Youth Park (with your I/C or bus pass)
Flag off time: 0800hrs
Each team will be issued a team passport (this is your race document which you will need to keep with you at all times, and use to report at different checkpoints)
*15mins before the flag off time (0745hrs), a matrix map will be issued. This map consists of 9 stations (3 RED, 3 YELLOW, 3 GREEN). For each colour, choose 1 out of the 3 stations to proceed to, and the route must be in the order of RED, YELLOW, GREEN. Meaning for this matrix map segment, each team is only required to finish 3 out of 9 stations. After the 3 red yellow green stations are completed, the next checkpoint will then be given.
The checkpoints will include: BRIDGE JUMPING, ABSEILING, ROCK CLIMBING, KAYAKING, CYCLING. NAVIGATION and RUNNING will be incorporated in the race. Estimated total running distance will be more than 12km.
*Take note: Route planning is VERY important. ABSEILING - Everyone must know how to wear a harness - First come, first serve basis - Each team will only have 2 persons to abseil - 11 storeys at Shaw Towers - For safety, you are allowed to stop your abseil at any point if you do not feel confident to complete 11 storeys
BRIDGE JUMPING - At Oasis bridge along Kallang River - Proper jumping procedures will be taught - The whole team will jump down together - Once in the water, the whole team will swim a certain distance to shore, and carry on to next checkpoint
KAYAKING - Estimated about 5km along Singapore River - Most probably T2 kayaks
CYCLING - Everyone must have a helmet (which will be provided) on - Along East Coast Park - Bicycle collection point will be revealed during the race (I suspect its near the Singapore Tennis Centre, around Carpark C3)
NAVIGATION - Race marshals wearing yellow will be stationed along the race. We will see them if we are on the right track
ROCK CLIMBING - Height of rock wall will be manageable for the average climber - One person at a time to climb the rock wall
Other stuffs:
- There will be a bag deposit point at Orchard Youth Park. You can choose to bring your belongings and deposit them there. But it is recommended only to bring your bus pass, phone card, some money and water bottle.
- Hydrating yourself throughout the race is very important. Though there will be water checkpoints, still bring along your water bottles, or water bags.
- Footwear must be on at all times. Even during the bridge jump.
- Bringing electronics along the race are not encouraged, unless you can fully trust a ziplock bag.
- There will be a swimming segment, therefore ladies are to take note.
- In the case of any member who fails or cannot do a part of the race (eg. rock climbing, abseiling, kayaking), a penalty time will be given which might or might not hinder the progress of the team.
- A cut-off time will be told on the race day itself. Any team that cannot complete all the checkpoints, will have to return to the starting point 1hr before the cut-off time.
- Teams will be judged on the fastest time to return back to the starting point upon completing ALL checkpoints.
- No information about the route or checkpoints will be revealed, only until race day.
- You are strongly asked to read the X-Physique Rules & Regulations (found on entry form) once more.
- Remember, SAFETY AT ALL TIMES! DO NOT RISK TO WIN!

Our 18th identity: We came together as a group of 23 fun-loving, daring individuals with different personalities to form the 18th batch of SRJC ODACians. SRJCODAC is where we overcame conflicts and differences, forged strong lasting friendships, trained and endured physical and mental challenges, shared joy and gloom, experienced new adventures, learnt new skills, cared for the community, and made the world a better place for you and us. We made the choice to ‘dare to be different’, and this is where we found a sense of belonging, where our other-home in SRJC is.
(This blog is where part of our memories lie since 2005.)
